HARDCORE CHIPTUNE DUBSTEP: DUBTROPOLIS

[ IT'S THE YEAR 20XX ]

DUBTROPOLIS

Posted by Sound-O-Vision - June 25th, 2010

Hey thurrr,

I haven't been posting any new animations lately because I've been working on a new project. I've been DJing the past few months playing as much Video Game and Chiptune music as the crowd will let me. I really like this kind of music and I wish I heard it out more. I've been making mixtapes and posting them online for free.

So far, I've released an all-chiptune mixtape and an all-videogame mixtape. I also made a website for the project: djcutman.com .

Today was super exciting because first song I wrote for this project (Run to Japan) just got licensed to Armor Games for their iPhone version of Sushi Cat. Super fun, if you haven't played it.

If you into chiptunes, video game music, or don't know what the fuck i'm talking about, check out DjCUTMAN.com or the other links

Something a little different this time, fresh from yesterday is Java! an animated sit-com starring three lovable dogs. This animation is targeted more towards younger audiences than some of our recent work.

Java was Moving Box's first contract animation, started over two years ago. With our studio move, Java fell towards the back burner, but at last it has surfaced as something more than we imagined!

Java features some live-action greenscreen composting, so the filesize is a little big, but we feel it's worth it :)

While rendering the final HD version for YouTube (at around 4:00AM today), MC Death Bear and I made a parody of Java, known as Java 2: Maddie's Revenge. It's worth a watch if the Java pilot wasn't enough (or too much)

I always read reviews, and I'd love to know your thoughts!

It's nearly 8:00am, and MC Death Bear and I have been working through the night. While Death Bear has been working on gnarly video game art, I've been tweeking our new Wordpress Blog. Take a look, hopefully it will help clear the shroud of mysery surrounding the enigmatic "Moving Box"

I'd love to read comments on what you think about the new blog design!

I just finished a new song, and I'd like some feedback.

It's progressive, taking you on a musical journey for two and a half minutes.

Some fun vocals and stuff by me, a few loops from GarageBand and the mix in Pro Tools.

I'm thinking it sounds a lot like video game music,

or some sweet animation soundtrack.

What thinks you?

We did it. MCDeathBear and I completed this little ditty in about two weeks. It's all your childhood fantasies in the way you always wanted them. That's right, The Ultimate Warrior from from WWF battling Star Wars Stormtroopers. You're a nerd right? You get this kind of stuff.

I should warn you, it does include some Gratuitous Violence.

Here's the video on YouTube

</div>Here's some videos of us in the studio, somewhere around 5:00AM

So it fucking happened.

We had our first pitch for Olympus Burger with 20th Century Fox. I found out last week and scrambled to get tickets out to LA to make it. I was hustling at 9AM the day we left getting our Pitch Books printed at Kinkos.

We made it over to the Fox lot with about two hours to figure out where the hell we were and where we were supposed to go. Moving Box's business manager Connor and I practiced our pitch (he took the marketing end, I took the production / character end) and felt good, and headed in 15 minutes early (as suggested by our link).

So we waited 15 minutes. "He's going to be another 20 minutes"

So we waited 20 minutes. "He's in the Sound Studio working on a trailer. Could we re-schedule for late this week?"

I flew out here on my Dad's frequent flier miles, I can't afford no re-schedule, woman! My flight back was in 7 hours, I took days off work and evaporated the last of my bank account to get sent home? Hell no! As luck would have it, she gave a shit, and found us the VP of Digital Marketing - exactly the person who'd handle an Internet based project like Olympus Burger. We gave him our pitch book and one of the last Olympus Burger DVDs and pitched our show for about 20 minutes. He seemed busy, but interested. What happened then was really awesome. We continued to chat with the lady who had hooked us up with him. She turned out to be Executive VP of Media & Market Planning (and a huge animation fan), and she gave us a list of networks she thought were a good fit for Olympus Burger. Half we hadn't even thought of, like Disney XD, Nick Toons, and even the usually-worth-nothing-but-sometimes-gr eenlights-gems-MTV. We left with a list of leads, and two email addresses of friends in high places.

No deals to speak of yet, but a big step in the right direction. I'm working on Olympus Burger HD, an edited, scored, sound re-designed and graphically polished version of the pilot (slated for release in August). The meeting has gotten me feeling really good about the project started almost four years ago, and now I'm certain, network involvement or no, that the Olympus Burger series is going to continue.

Thanks to all our focus group members and everyone who watched, rated, and reviewed the pilot episode here on Newgrounds. Some of your comments are in our pitch book (thanks to those who proofread your reviews ;). Your support has brought us this far, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are the people we do it for. Everything By Everyone.

Our first PITCH for Olympus Burger!!

In the vein of Appssro's Prostitute Mickey, one of the guys at Moving Box discovered this character, walking the streets on a tuesday night.

Moving Box has a new pilot coming out soon, kind of deviating away from our whole religious and/or food service theme. So tonight I'm drinking Jameson whiskey with my cat and posting this promo. Take a look.

Meet Java!

And now for something completly different (on the portal)

I've got to take a minute to post about this ridiculous crap I seen on the portal.

It's called Easter Is Gay and you might want to avoid it at all costs.

This guy wrote me as a fan of Olympus Burger on myspace. He claims his video is getting attention on youtube, and now he's infiltrated Newgrounds. It's kind of my fault, I told him about NG (Sorry Tom!) .

If your religious or not, I think you'll agree this is some pretty gay shit.
